Authorities seized an estimated P142.8 million worth of suspected shabu that had been concealed inside mayonnaise and ketchup containers during an early morning anti-drug operation on March 11 in Barangay Santo Domingo, Quezon City.
The operation was conducted by operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Special Enforcement Service, PDEA Regional Office, and the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group under the leadership of Police Brig. Gen. Elmer Ragay.
Authorities said the operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals identified as high-value targets.
The suspects were caught in the act of selling around 500 grams of suspected shabu to an undercover agent who posed as a buyer during the operation.
After the arrest, authorities searched the suspects’ van and other belongings. During the inspection, operatives discovered approximately 20.5 kilograms of suspected shabu hidden inside containers labeled as mayonnaise and ketchup.
The seized illegal drugs have an estimated street value of P142.8 million, according to authorities.
The suspects are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities said the operation was part of ongoing efforts by PDEA and the PNP to combat the distribution of illegal drugs.
Officials emphasized that illegal drugs continue to threaten communities and are linked to criminal activities that affect public safety.
PDEA and the PNP said operations against illegal drug networks will continue as part of efforts to prevent the spread of dangerous substances and protect communities, particularly the youth.
