Ombudsman to submit VP Sara SALN to House panel

The Office of the Ombudsman is set to provide certified copies of Vice President Sara Duterte’s Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) to the House Committee on Justice as part of ongoing impeachment proceedings.

Ombudsman Samuel “Boying” Remulla was summoned by the House Committee on Justice to attend a scheduled hearing related to the impeachment case against Duterte. The subpoena testificandum et duces tecum was signed by committee chairperson Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro and House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III.

The subpoena directs Remulla to appear before the committee on April 14, 2026.

Aside from his attendance, the Ombudsman was also instructed to bring certified true copies of Duterte’s SALN covering multiple years. These include records from 2022 to 2025 and earlier filings from 2007 to 2013.

The request forms part of the House of Representatives’ continuing process to determine whether the complaints filed against the Vice President have sufficient basis to proceed to the next stage of impeachment.

During a press conference held in the afternoon, Remulla confirmed that the Office of the Ombudsman is prepared to provide the requested SALN documents to the House Justice panel.

The submission of financial disclosure documents is among the steps being undertaken by lawmakers as they review the allegations and evidence related to the impeachment case.

The House Committee on Justice is currently conducting hearings to evaluate whether the complaints meet the required standards to advance further in the impeachment process.

The scheduled April 14 hearing is expected to include the presentation of the requested documents as part of the panel’s ongoing deliberations.
