Ombudsman to comply with House subpoena on VP Sara SALN

The Office of the Ombudsman said it is ready to comply with a subpoena issued by the House Committee on Justice seeking the Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) of Vice President Sara Duterte dating back to 2007.

The subpoena was issued as part of the ongoing impeachment proceedings against the vice president.

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said the office is open to submitting all SALN documents available in its repository. He added that the agency is prepared to provide the requested records in accordance with the order of the House panel.

Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano also assured lawmakers that the office will immediately comply with any directive issued by the House of Representatives regarding the submission of the documents.

In October 2025, Remulla removed the strict limitations on the release of SALN records of government officials. The previous restrictions had been imposed under former Ombudsman Samuel Martires and had drawn criticism over concerns about transparency among public officials.

The Ombudsman is also coordinating with the Office of the House Secretary General to obtain the SALN records of members of Congress.

Remulla emphasized that lawmakers are required to file their SALN and that it is the responsibility of the Ombudsman to ensure their compliance with the requirement.
