Number of unemployed Filipinos rises to 2.26M in December 2025

The number of unemployed Filipinos increased in December 2025.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the number of unemployed Filipinos rose to 2.26 million.

This is higher than the 2.25 million unemployed recorded in November 2025, and the 1.63 million reported in December last year.

Despite this, the unemployment rate remained at 4.4 percent.

Meanwhile, the underemployment rate was recorded at 8 percent, referring to workers who are employed but are still seeking additional work or longer working hours.

The labor force participation rate stood at 64.4 percent, while the employment rate was recorded at 95.6 percent in December, equivalent to 51.69 million Filipinos aged 15 years old and above.

This figure is higher than the 51.52 million employed Filipinos recorded in November 2025.
