PH-OGP said the recognition highlights the growing commitment of LGUs in NIR to promote transparency, accountability, citizen participation, and participatory governance at the grassroots level.

The Open Government Partnership (OGP) is a global multi-stakeholder initiative that aims to make governments more open, transparent, accountable, and responsive to citizens.

The OGP was launched in 2011 by eight founding governments: the United States, the Philippines, Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Norway, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, along with several Civil Society Organizations.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), a member of the OGP steering committee, was also recognized for its support in advancing open government reforms across the country, from the national level to local communities.

Meanwhile, PH-OGP encouraged other LGUs nationwide to share their local policies, ordinances, and resolutions that institutionalize transparency, accountability, citizen participation, and open government reforms in line with DBM Circular Letter No. 2026-6.*
