Newborn sold for ₱30K? Baby surrendered to police in Gensan

A concerned citizen brought an 18-day-old infant to the Lagao Police Station on Friday night, asking authorities to intervene and protect the baby. The child, identified as Baby Quin, was surrendered around 7:30 p.m. after the mother reportedly sought help to find an adoptive family.

Police later learned that the infant’s biological mother, “Christine,” allegedly accepted ₱30,000 from a prospective adopter on December 31, 2025, in exchange for custody. Police investigators said the transaction occurred without legal adoption proceedings or approval from the proper government agencies, suggesting possible illegal adoption

However, “Christine” denied the allegation, telling police she was shocked to learn that her child was reportedly sold. She insisted the claim was not true and maintained that she did not receive any money for the baby’s custody.

According to police investigation, the infant was born at FN-LIBE Lying-In Birthing Home in Barangay Lagao, General Santos City, on December 29, 2025. Records show that the mother and baby were discharged from the birthing home on December 31 and later checked into Pinobretel Suites, but the mother’s name did not appear in the hotel guest registry.
