A family dispute in Minglanilla, Cebu turned deadly when a 40-year-old man shot and killed his uncle on Saturday night, September 6, according to police.
The victim, identified as Chard, 47, was playing billiards in Barangay Cuanos when his nephew, Jay, allegedly confronted him. Initial investigation showed that Jay left the scene briefly, returned armed with a firearm, and attempted to shoot his uncle.
The gun failed to fire during the first attempt. Chard reportedly retaliated by striking his nephew on the head with a cue stick. Jay then pulled the trigger repeatedly until the weapon discharged, hitting Chard in the chest. The victim died instantly.
Authorities said the suspect fled but was later arrested. A .38-caliber firearm was recovered from his possession.
Police confirmed that the two had a long-standing feud, reportedly linked to Chard’s alleged relationship with Jay’s live-in partner. Investigators are considering this as a possible motive behind the shooting.
