Arabic teacher shot dead in Maguindanao; police eye robbery

Police identified the man found dead along the national highway in Barangay Taviran, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, on Sunday afternoon, September 7.

Authorities confirmed the victim as Abusadid Landasan, an Arabic teacher and resident of Barangay Lawil, Aleosan, North Cotabato. He was discovered past 2 p.m., according to Police Lt. Col. Esmael Madin, chief of the Datu Odin Sinsuat Municipal Police Station.

Relatives told investigators that Landasan was last seen earlier in the day in Barangay New Panay, where he had taken his motorcycle for routine maintenance. He was supposed to travel afterward to Carmen, Cotabato, to visit a family member.

Police reported that Landasan’s motorcycle, bag, and wallet were missing from the scene. Authorities suspect the items may have been taken by those responsible for the shooting.

Investigators are continuing to gather details about the incident, including possible witnesses along the busy stretch of the national highway. No suspects have been named at this time, and police have not yet determined a clear motive.

The victim’s family is cooperating with the investigation, which is focusing on both robbery and other potential angles behind the fatal shooting.
