BJMP vehicle overturns in Cebu, 12 inmates and 4 jail officers injured

A Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) transport vehicle carrying inmates and jail officers overturned on a slippery road in Argao, Cebu, on Monday morning, September 8.

The incident happened in Barangay Langtad when the vehicle lost control amid heavy rains that left the road slick. Authorities said 12 inmates and four jail officers, including the driver, were on board at the time of the crash.

The accident caused injuries of varying degrees among both the inmates and the officers. All of them were immediately brought to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials did not release details on the severity of the injuries.

According to the report, the rainfall created hazardous road conditions that contributed to the driver losing control of the vehicle. The BJMP has yet to issue a formal statement regarding the incident or on the status of those injured.
