The National Bureau of Investigation–South Eastern Mindanao Regional Office has issued subpoenas to five individuals tagged as persons of interest in the killing of Tres de Mayo Barangay Captain Oscar “Dodong” Bucol in Digos City, Davao del Sur.
NBI-SEMRO spokesperson Agent Ely Liano confirmed that the five are expected to appear at the regional office in the coming days. He said the move gives the individuals the chance to explain their side regarding the death of Bucol. “We will be asking questions from them,” Liano said.
Liano added that more individuals may be subpoenaed depending on how the investigation progresses. The agency is currently reviewing CCTV footage gathered from private establishments and local government sources in Digos City.
He admitted that the case presents challenges, but assured the public that the bureau is committed to pursuing justice for the slain barangay captain.
The spokesperson also appealed to anyone with information about the killing to come forward to help speed up the investigation, noting that Bucol was a public servant.
