A motorcycle rider was killed after crashing head-on into an oncoming pick-up truck in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City early Saturday morning, May 31.
Authorities identified the fatality as alias Darryl, 31, a resident of Barangay Buhisan. The driver of the pick-up was identified as alias Melo, 48, from Barangay Talamban, also in Cebu City.
According to the initial investigation by the Traffic Enforcement Unit, both vehicles were traveling in opposite directions along Gov. Cuenco Avenue when the collision occurred.
Police said that as the motorcycle approached a curved section of the road, it allegedly veered out of its lane and crashed directly into the pick-up coming from the opposite direction.
The impact of the collision was so strong that Darryl was thrown from the motorcycle and declared dead-on-arrival at a nearby hospital.
Authorities have reminded motorists to remain cautious, especially during early morning hours when visibility is low and roads are relatively empty.
