President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured the public that food supply in the country remains sufficient following an inspection of a warehouse in Biñan, Laguna.
The visit was part of the government’s efforts to monitor the availability and distribution of essential food products. Marcos was joined by Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque during the inspection of a canned fish and meat manufacturing facility.
During an ambush interview, the President said current food stocks remain largely intact, noting that only a small portion has been utilized so far.
He also said the government has been coordinating with manufacturers to help keep food prices affordable in the market.
According to Marcos, several manufacturers have agreed to temporarily hold off on increasing prices for one to two months. The arrangement comes as authorities continue to monitor both supply levels and market prices.
The government is maintaining close coordination with the private sector to ensure that food remains sufficient and accessible to the public.
Officials said the warehouse inspection is part of broader efforts to address concerns about supply stability and pricing.
Marcos emphasized that ongoing monitoring will continue to guide decisions related to food distribution and pricing in the coming weeks.
The government has not indicated any immediate shortages, as officials continue to track supply conditions nationwide.
