A man wearing a shirt marked with a ride-hailing app logo held up a store cashier at knifepoint in Sitio Kalubihan, Barangay Talamban, Cebu City around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16.
CCTV footage showed the suspect wearing a helmet and a T-shirt associated with a ride-hailing service. According to the initial investigation by Talamban Police Station 8, the man posed as a customer wanting to cash in ₱3,000 to his e-wallet.
However, the cashier delayed the transaction since the suspect failed to present any money. Moments later, the man approached the cashier again—this time armed with a knife.
The suspect reportedly stole ₱1,000 in cash and a cellphone valued at approximately ₱8,000 before fleeing the scene.
Authorities are still tracking down the suspect and have begun coordinating with the ride-hailing company seen on the suspect’s shirt for possible identification and further investigation.
