A nine-month pregnant woman died after being hit by a falling coconut tree in Barangay Ticulon, Malita, Davao Occidental on Thursday afternoon, July 17.
The victim, identified only as Lyn, 23, was doing laundry around 1:00 p.m. in Sitio Talaod when the coconut tree suddenly fell and struck her. She was a resident of the same sitio and was due to give birth soon.
Authorities said Lyn suffered multiple fractures and a severe head wound. She died instantly before she could be brought to any medical facility.
Residents in the area were shocked by the incident. No strong winds or unusual weather conditions were reported at the time of the accident.
Officials have not yet released further details on how the tree fell or if an investigation will follow.
