Malacañang appeals for public understanding as Middle East crisis continues

Malacañang appealed for public understanding and trust, including from those in the transport sector, regarding the measures being implemented by the government to ease the effects of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

The appeal was made by the Palace following earlier threats of transport strikes scheduled this week. Some transport groups, however, have already withdrawn their plans to stage a work stoppage.

According to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro, the government continues to take steps to balance assistance for both commuters and members of the transport sector affected by the situation.

Castro said the President is aware of the concerns raised by various sectors due to the continuing conflict in the Middle East.

She emphasized that the crisis in the region was not caused by the President or the government, noting that the situation stemmed from developments beyond the country’s control.

Castro added that unity and cooperation are needed at this time while the administration continues to carry out necessary measures to address the effects of the crisis.

Among these measures is the continued provision of assistance to the transportation sector.

She noted that the sector had previously received financial assistance and fuel subsidies as part of the government’s support programs.

Malacañang maintained that helping both commuters and transport workers remains a priority as authorities continue to monitor developments related to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

The Palace reiterated its call for public understanding while government support measures remain in place to mitigate the impact of the international situation.
