A public school principal was arrested during a drug buy-bust operation conducted by authorities in Barangay Poblacion, Tagbina, Surigao del Sur, at about 10:30 p.m. on March 20.
Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) carried out the operation that led to the arrest of the suspect identified only by the alias “Jay,” 45 years old. The suspect holds the rank of Principal III under the Department of Education Tagbina District.
Authorities reported that two packets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of ₱6,800 were confiscated from the suspect during the operation.
Also recovered was the buy-bust money used by an undercover PDEA agent who posed as a buyer during the transaction involving the illegal drugs.
The suspect is currently detained while facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Records also showed that earlier this month of March 2026, another school principal was arrested inside a drug den in Mati City, Davao Oriental.
In a separate incident in February 2026, two teachers were also arrested in Agusan del Sur for alleged involvement in selling illegal drugs.
Authorities continue to remind the public that anti-illegal drug operations remain ongoing as part of the government’s enforcement of laws against illegal drug activities across various sectors.
