An off-duty policeman is facing multiple criminal and administrative charges after pulling a gun and firing it at a store in Barangay Ibabang Dupay, Lucena City, on Saturday, July 12.
Based on CCTV footage, the officer was seen entering the area with a firearm while seemingly searching for someone. The video then captured him pointing the gun toward the store and firing.
He now faces charges of Grave Threats, Unjust Vexation, Physical Injury, and Illegal Discharge of Firearms. He is also being investigated for administrative misconduct under “Conduct Unbecoming of a Police Officer.”
Quezon Police Provincial Office (QPPO) Provincial Director PCol Romulo Albacea condemned the officer’s behavior and said disciplinary action is underway. He added that the cop would be punished and dismissed from service.
Authorities have confiscated the policeman’s firearm, which is now under the custody of the Lucena City Police Station.
