Katt Williams is stirring controversy once again, this time taking aim at fellow comedian Martin Lawrence and the ongoing speculation about his health issues. During a recent comedy set in Los Angeles, Williams joked about Lawrence possibly having a stroke, a rumor the Bad Boys star has repeatedly denied.
Katt Williams mocks Martin Lawrence’s alleged health struggles
The viral moment took place on January 17, when Williams, 53, addressed the rumors surrounding Lawrence’s appearance at recent public events.
“Martin Lawrence keeps saying he ain’t had no stroke,” Williams quipped, sending the audience into laughter. “But every time he do an interview, he look like he had a stroke! Now why won’t somebody say something?”
The comedian continued his bit by imitating Lawrence’s speech and movements, suggesting that the actor’s demeanor tells a different story than what he claims.
“Ain’t nothing wrong with having a stroke and getting better,” Williams added. “The f**k is he hiding it for?”
His comments reignited speculation, despite Lawrence previously dismissing concerns about his health.
Martin Lawrence denies health rumors
For years, rumors about Lawrence’s health have circulated, gaining traction in 2023 after he appeared at a Los Angeles movie premiere alongside Will Smith. Some fans believed the comedian looked noticeably different, sparking concern that he may have suffered a serious medical condition.
However, Lawrence, 59, addressed the speculation in a June 2023 interview on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning, assuring fans he was in good health.
“I’m fine. I’m in God’s hands. I’m blessed, you know?” he said. “I’m glad to be waking up every day. I’m all good. No need for people to be concerned.”
Despite his reassurances, Williams’ remarks have once again placed Lawrence’s health and appearance under scrutiny.
Lawrence shifts focus to daughter’s wedding plans
Amid the renewed speculation, Lawrence is focusing on family, preparing for a major milestone—his daughter Jasmin Lawrence’s wedding to Eric Murphy, son of comedy legend Eddie Murphy.
The couple, who announced their engagement in November, are planning their nuptials, and Lawrence confirmed he will be footing the bill.
“Well, Eddie said I gotta pay for it,” Lawrence joked during an interview on Big Boy’s Neighborhood in December.
Murphy, who has 10 children, reportedly told Lawrence, “I paid for my last six weddings—it’s your turn now.”
Lawrence, a father of three, laughed about the arrangement but confirmed he’s happy to cover the cost.
