Kabankalan City turns over aid to LGUs in the wake of Kanlaon unrest

Kabankalan City Mayor Benjie Miranda turned over P1 million in financial assistance on Wednesday, January 22, to four local government units (LGUs) affected by the December 9 Kanlaon eruption.

The recipients of the aid were the cities of Bago and La Carlota, as well as the municipalities of La Castellana and Moises Padilla.

La Castellana received P400,000, while each of the other three LGUs received P200,000. Mayor Miranda personally delivered the checks.

Miranda said that the aid symbolized the unwavering support of the people of Kabankalan City for those bearing the heaviest burden of this unforeseen circumstance.

During a Facebook live session, he explained that the assistance was intended to support the LGUs in fulfilling their responsibilities to care for those affected and displaced by Kanlaon’s recent activity.

He also described it as a gesture of gratitude to these LGUs, which had supported Kabankalan during its own challenging times.

Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Celestina D. Garcia-Yulo personally received the financial aid and expressed gratitude through a Facebook post.

Meanwhile, La Castellana Mayor Rhummyla Mangilimutan, La Carlota Mayor Rex Jalando-on, and Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo also received their respective checks during the handover ceremony.
