Kabankalan City has allocated PHP 1 million in aid to support local government units (LGUs) affected by the December 9 Kanlaon volcano eruption.
Mayor Benjie Miranda said on Sunday, January 19, that the city would provide PHP 400,000 to La Castellana, while La Carlota City, Bago City, and Moises Padilla would receive PHP 200,000 each.
However, Miranda did not specify the exact date for the turnover of assistance to the four LGUs affected by the eruption.
He added that the city has a designated an evacuation area should a new eruption occur.
Kabankalan’s proximity to Himamaylan, where the Office of Civil Defense is setting up a Tent City, further strengthens its ability to provide immediate support.
Meanwhile, Kanlaon Volcano remains at alert level 3 and continues to be restive.
