Japan and Australia express condolences following sinking of M/V Trisha Kerstin 3

Japan and Australia have expressed sympathy to the families and all those affected by the sinking of a ferry in Basilan.

The incident resulted in the deaths of at least 15 individuals.

In a post on X, Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Endo Kazuya conveyed his condolences to everyone affected by the sinking of the M/V Trisha Kerstin 3 ferry.

He said Japan stands with the families during this difficult time and hopes for the swift rescue and recovery of the passengers and crew members.

“My heartfelt sympathies go out to all those affected by the sinking of the M/V Trisha Kerstin 3 ferry in the southern Philippines. Japan stands with you during these difficult times and hopes for the swift rescue and recovery of the passengers and crew members,” he said.

Australian Ambassador Marc Innes-Brown also extended his condolences.

“Our thoughts are with those killed and injured, as well as their loved ones, following the ferry sinking in the southern Philippines last night. Our deepest condolences,” he said.

Authorities are continuing retrieval operations as of this time.
