A string of cryptic Instagram Stories from actress Jackie Forster has left netizens questioning whether her son, basketball star Kobe Paras, has officially split from Kapuso actress Kyline Alcantara.
On Tuesday, April 22, Forster posted borrowed quotes about “emotional manipulation” and “lack of accountability,” which many interpreted as alluding to a personal situation involving her family. One quote suggested that when a person can no longer manipulate someone, they begin to rewrite the story to protect themselves.
Another slide shared by Forster stated that it’s easier for some individuals to deflect and blame others than to take accountability. Her hashtag choice, #mamawithreceipts, added fuel to the online speculation, with many followers wondering if the posts were indirectly confirming her son’s rumored breakup.
Forster also posted that manipulation happens when someone focuses on your reaction rather than how they treat you. The Stories quickly went viral, sparking debates and assumptions across social media platforms.
Photos deleted; unfollowing spree raises more eyebrows
Rumors about the couple’s breakup began swirling on April 11 when eagle-eyed fans noticed that Kobe had deleted two photos with Kyline from his Instagram account. One was reportedly from a dinner date in Makati, while the other was taken during a Palawan trip in December 2024.
Kyline also appears to have scrubbed their couple photos, retaining only posts related to brand partnerships. By April 20, Kyline unfollowed Kobe on Instagram — and just two days later, Kobe returned the favor.
Adding to the mystery, Kobe posted a photo of himself on a boat on April 22, captioned with the song “Life is Good” by Future and Drake, which some fans saw as a message about moving on.
Family weighs in on rumors
In an April 12 interview with entertainment columnist Gorgy Rula, Kobe’s father, actor Benjie Paras, denied the breakup rumors. He confirmed the two were still together and had even attended a social gathering recently.
But the rumors intensified after a content creator posted a critical message about Kobe’s nightlife habits, questioning his loyalty to Kyline. Photos from the post showed Kobe partying with friends and an unknown woman.
Kobe’s older brother, Andre Paras, defended him publicly via Facebook, stressing that Kobe was simply enjoying time with his friends. He argued that the women in the photo were girlfriends of Kobe’s male friends and accused the content creator of spinning false narratives for views.
As of this writing, neither Kobe nor Kyline has issued a direct statement confirming or denying the breakup.
