The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) has issued another subpoena to former congressman Zaldy Co, who is under investigation for alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
ICI Executive Director Atty. Brian Keith Hosaka confirmed that the subpoena was sent to Co’s residence in Pasig City and to an address in Bicol to ensure proper delivery. The hearing is scheduled for November 11 and 12.
Co resigned from his congressional post earlier this year amid controversy over infrastructure spending and allegations of fund misuse. He is among several officials being investigated by the ICI for suspected anomalies in public works projects, particularly in flood control initiatives.
Hosaka said the new subpoena seeks to compel Co’s attendance and testimony during the upcoming hearings. It remains unclear, however, whether the former lawmaker will comply with the order or continue to remain silent on the matter.
The ICI’s inquiry is part of a broader effort to investigate misuse of government funds in infrastructure projects across various regions. The commission has yet to confirm if other officials linked to the same projects will also be summoned in the coming weeks.
As of press time, Co’s camp has not released a statement regarding the subpoena or his possible attendance at the November hearings.
