The Deputy Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) expressed confidence that the case against former President Rodrigo Duterte will move to a full-blown trial following the conclusion of the confirmation of charges hearing.
In an interview, ICC Deputy Prosecutor Mame Mandiaye Niang said there is sufficient evidence to believe that the accusations against Duterte constitute a “reasonable accusation.”
He stated that the prosecution presented evidence, much of which included a “great deal of speeches” from the accused.
Niang emphasized that he is confident the case will proceed to trial.
