Gunman killed, 3 wounded in Cotabato City shooting

A gunman was killed, and three people were wounded in a shooting incident Wednesday night in Cotabato City.

The shooting occurred along Doña Pilar Street, Barangay Poblacion 4, where Abdulhaq Umal, Niño Limare Galimba, and Homidie Saptula Salipudin were shot. Investigators said Abdulhaq and Niño were standing by the roadside when suspects riding a black motorcycle approached and shot them.

The suspects fled but encountered Marines patrolling nearby who had heard the gunfire. Instead of surrendering, the back-rider attempted to pull a gun but was shot in the head by the Marines, killing him instantly.

The driver, identified as Homidie, sustained gunshot wounds and was arrested. Authorities are still confirming the identity of the slain gunman.

The three wounded victims are currently receiving medical treatment. Barangay Poblacion 4 Chairperson Ragina Ayunan confirmed that Abdulhaq and Niño were barangay watchmen who had previously received threats.

Earlier that night, police responded to a separate shooting along Doña Blanca Street, Barangay Poblacion 4. Authorities believe the same suspects were involved in both incidents.

Police continue to investigate the case, focusing on the motive and the complete identities of those involved.
