Group calls for action against overt threats to regional peace and security

The group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) condemned the reported attack by the United States on Iran.

In a statement, BAYAN rejected the claim of US President Donald Trump that the action was meant to eliminate “imminent threats,” and criticized the portrayal of Iran as an “eternal aggressor.”

The group said the United States threatened to destroy Iran’s missile capability and wipe out its navy, while insisting that Iran is rebuilding its nuclear program.

In light of this, BAYAN joined calls for progressive forces to take action against what it described as an overt attack and a threat to peace and security in the region.
