Grade 12 student arrested after marijuana seized during school inspection in Dumaguete City

A 20-year-old Grade 12 student was arrested after authorities allegedly recovered suspected marijuana during a routine inspection inside a school in Dumaguete City.

According to the Dumaguete City Police Station, the incident was immediately reported to police by the school principal’s office after a barangay tanod assigned to assist campus security discovered the suspected illegal substance during the inspection.

Authorities said they seized one plastic sachet containing about 15.30 grams of dried suspected marijuana from the student. The confiscated substance has an estimated value of approximately ₱1,838.

Following the incident, the student was taken into police custody for proper investigation.

The student is facing charges for alleged violation of Section 11 of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which covers the illegal possession of dangerous drugs.

Police did not release the identity of the student.

Authorities said the case remains under investigation.
