A robbery at GT Fuels gas station in Barangay Adtuyon, Pangantucan, Bukidnon, on February 15, 2025, resulted in a fatal police shootout.
According to the Pangantucan Municipal Police Station, two unidentified suspects robbed the cashier, a 42-year-old woman, stealing ₱5,000 and an iPhone 11 worth ₱15,000 before fleeing in a gray Toyota Fortuner with plate number GAN 8450.
The cashier immediately alerted authorities, who relayed the information to officers manning a checkpoint in Sitio Bong Bong, Adtuyon. Around 10:10 a.m., the suspects’ vehicle approached the checkpoint but sped away, heading toward Kalilangan, Bukidnon.
A brief chase ensued until the suspects’ vehicle crashed into a canal in Sitio Bugwak, Bacusanon. The suspects opened fire at police officers, triggering a shootout. One suspect was shot and later declared dead at the Pangantucan Rural Health Unit, while two others escaped into a nearby wooded area.
The slain suspect was identified as a 24-year-old man from Barangay Inug-og, Pagalungan, Maguindanao del Sur. Investigations revealed that the getaway vehicle was stolen earlier that morning in Kabacan, North Cotabato.
Authorities recovered a .45 caliber pistol, grenade, multiple ammunition rounds, and several personal items, including cell phones, a wallet with IDs, and assorted tools.
The Pangantucan police continue their investigation to track down the remaining suspects.
