Four schools in Davao City received bomb threats within a 24-hour period, prompting evacuations and heightened security across multiple campuses, police confirmed Wednesday and Thursday, October 22 and 23.
According to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), the first alert came from Davao Wisdom Academy on Torres Street, Barangay 19-B, around 10 a.m. Monday. Hours later, the Mintal Comprehensive National Senior High School reported another bomb threat at around 1 p.m.
The following morning, October 23, students at Talomo National High School in Talomo were quickly evacuated after receiving a similar threat at about 7 a.m. Just 30 minutes later, Bangoy National High School in Sasa also reported a bomb threat, marking the fourth incident in 24 hours.
DCPO director Police Col. Mannan Muarip reminded the public that making false bomb threats is a serious criminal offense. Under Philippine law, violators face up to five years in prison and a fine of P40,000.
Authorities are still investigating the source of the threats and have yet to confirm whether the incidents are connected. Meanwhile, police presence has been increased near affected schools to ensure the safety of students and staff.
