DTI finds no increase in prices of basic goods weeks after the start of 2026

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has confirmed that prices of basic necessities and prime commodities have remained stable during the first three weeks of the year.

According to the DTI, 186 out of 205 stock-keeping units (SKUs), or about 91 percent of basic goods, have shown no change in price since the government’s price freeze lapsed on January 5.

The agency explained that manufacturers of these items did not submit requests for price adjustments, resulting in steady prices.

Products with stable prices include tomato sauce, instant noodles, laundry detergent, candles, bread, soap, and batteries.

Meanwhile, the agency said it is currently reviewing the suggested retail prices (SRPs) proposed by manufacturers.

The most recent updated SRP list was released in February last year.
