DSWD Visits Tent Cities in Cebu Days After Earthquake

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) visited Cebu to assess the situation of residents affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake, particularly those temporarily staying in tents in Bogo City.

According to the camp manager, at least 50 families — or around 300 individuals — have been relocated to the tent city in Bogo.

In addition, another tent city will soon be set up in the town of Medellin, followed by one in San Remigio.

During his visit, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said that more government officials and cabinet members are expected to visit Cebu in the coming days.

He added that President Bongbong Marcos has ordered them not to abandon or leave the residents until the Cebuanos have fully recovered.

Meanwhile, the DSWD continues to call for volunteers to help in the production of family food packs (FFPs) at the Visayas Disaster Resource Center.
