DSWD calls for equal opportunities for all this Women’s Month

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the rights and welfare of women as the country marks National Women’s Month 2026.

This year’s theme is “WE (Women and Everyone) for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,” with the sub-theme “Lead the Babaylans, Filipinas!” highlighting the fundamental role of women’s leadership in shaping Filipino identity.

According to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, the agency will continue to strengthen programs and services that empower women, expand access to protection and support services, and promote safe spaces that uphold dignity.

Gatchalian said this year’s celebration serves as a reminder that gender equality is a shared responsibility.

The observance calls on women and men, the youth and the elderly, families and communities to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and ensure equal opportunities for all women and girls.
