According to initial reports, John had just been arrested during a buy-bust operation and was being transported back to Batad town after undergoing a drug test at the PNP Crime Laboratory in Camp Delgado, Iloilo City.

Authorities said the patrol vehicle lost control when water splashed onto the windshield, impairing the driver’s visibility. This caused the vehicle to hit a gutter and a telecom post before falling into a deep roadside area.
