The Davao River-Bucana Bridge officially opened to the public on December 15, 2025, following a site inspection led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., accompanied by Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon, MINDA Development Authority Secretary Leo Tereso Magno, and other members of the Cabinet.
The newly completed bridge connects Bucana Bridge with Davao City’s coastal road. Funded with P3.1 billion from China’s Official Development Assistance, the project is designed to significantly reduce travel time for motorists traveling northbound to southbound and vice versa. What previously took nearly two hours can now be completed in just 25 minutes.
The bridge spans 480 meters and is expected to accommodate around 35,000 vehicles daily. Officials highlighted that the infrastructure will help ease traffic congestion in Davao City and improve the flow of goods and people across the area.
Marcos and government officials emphasized the bridge’s role in boosting local mobility and supporting economic activity. The project is part of broader efforts to improve transportation infrastructure in the region, reduce commuting times, and enhance connectivity for both residents and businesses.
Authorities also noted that proper traffic management and safety measures will be implemented to ensure smooth operations and protect motorists using the bridge.
The inauguration drew attention as a milestone in Davao City’s ongoing infrastructure development, combining local planning with international funding to address long-standing traffic challenges.
