Couple killed after being caught in drag racing crash in Davao City, leave behind young child

A couple from Mati City, Davao Oriental was killed in a road crash in Barangay Catalunan Pequeño, Davao City, early Aug. 3, leaving behind a young child.

The victims were identified as Angelou Isidro and her partner, Lovely Kim Cadayona, 27. Their child is now under the care of family members.

According to Angelou’s cousin, identified as Lian, the couple worked hard each day to provide for their family. Angelou was employed as a call center agent, while Cadayona worked as a Foodpanda rider.

Based on the initial police investigation, Cadayona was driving the motorcycle with Angelou riding as his passenger when they were allegedly struck by a young driver believed to have been involved in drag racing.

The fatal crash occurred at about 2:50 a.m. along Davao-Bukidnon Road in front of a gasoline station.

According to the Davao City Police Office’s initial investigation, the collision involved four motorcycles. Authorities said one motorcycle struck the rear of another, triggering a chain collision. A detached wheel from one of the motorcycles also hit a motorized tricycle traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver and passenger of one motorcycle were declared dead at the scene by responders from the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council of Catalunan Pequeño.

Police later identified the fatalities as Cadayona and Isidro.

Authorities said the driver of another motorcycle was taken to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for treatment, while another individual involved in the incident was brought to the police station for proper disposition.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the crash and the roles of those involved.

As the family mourns the loss, relatives are appealing for financial assistance, prayers and support for the couple’s young child and the expenses they now face.
