Construction begins on rental housing for families affected by NSCR Extension Project

Construction has officially begun on the first public rental housing facility for families affected by the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Extension Project.

The facility, called the Sining Apartments Public Rental Facility, is located in Barangay Landayan, San Pedro.

According to Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has made it clear that no family should be left behind because of major transportation infrastructure projects.

“Malinaw po ang utos ng Pangulo na walang maiiwang pamilya dahil sa pagtatayo ng malalaking imprastrakturang pang-transportasyon. Ang pagtatayo ng Sining Apartments ay patunay ng paglalaan natin ng maayos at disenteng tirahan para sa mga apektadong pamilya (President Marcos has made it clear that no family should be left behind because of the construction of major transportation infrastructure. The construction of Sining Apartments demonstrates our commitment to providing decent and dignified housing for affected families),” Lopez said.

Officials said the apartment complex reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring decent living conditions for families displaced by the project.

For the first time, even individuals who are ineligible for socialized housing but were displaced by the NSCR Extension Project may avail themselves of the rental housing program within the jurisdiction of San Pedro, Laguna.

The project is being implemented through a partnership between the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the City Government of San Pedro.
