The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) assured that it will cooperate with investigators following a report by the Commission on Audit (COA) that flagged ₱20 billion worth of unliquidated and delayed education subsidy grants under the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) program.
In a statement, CHED Chairperson Shirley Agrupis said she is concerned over COA’s findings.
She clarified, however, that the issues cited by COA stem from the previous administration.
Meanwhile, CHED has already launched an internal review on the matter.
Agrupis said she has directed the commission’s offices to thoroughly study the COA report, trace any anomalous disbursements, and identify individuals responsible for the violations.
She stressed that under her leadership, the proper implementation of the Universal Access to Quality Education Act will be ensured.
According to Agrupis, CHED funds will be used strictly in accordance with the law, and the agency will exhaust all its powers to make sure its mandate is fulfilled.
