Residents and students in Camp 4, Talisay City, Cebu are using a temporary cliffside path after a hanging bridge in the area was destroyed by Typhoon Tino in November 2025.
The situation gained attention after a video taken by netizen Rose Abarias circulated online. The footage was recorded around 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, showing residents carefully crossing the improvised route while a fast-moving river flowed below.
Residents in the community worked together to create the temporary passage to help students and other locals reach the other side. The makeshift path runs along the side of a cliff and serves as an alternative after the hanging bridge was damaged during the typhoon.
According to the uploader, residents normally cross the river directly when there is no flooding and do not need to use the elevated path. However, with the bridge no longer usable, the cliffside route is currently being used.
The video drew concern from netizens after it spread on social media. Many expressed worry about the safety of those using the narrow path, especially schoolchildren who have to cross the area.
Some online users called on local authorities to address the situation and provide a safer crossing for the community.
No official statement from local officials was included in the viral post. The temporary path remains in use as residents continue to rely on it following the destruction of the bridge.
