A 66-year-old man was killed by his own son in a brutal hacking incident around 10:30 a.m. on July 11, 2025, at Sitio Alfagate, Barangay Sudlon I, Cebu City.
The victim was identified as Victor Llamedo Obenario. His son, Jojo Versosa Obenario, 40, who works as a vegetable porter, is now facing charges for parricide.
According to police, Victor was found lying face down on the floor of his room, covered in blood with multiple wounds to his head and body. Jojo later admitted to attacking his father, claiming he was told by evil spirits to do it.
Jojo told investigators he believed his father was plotting something against him. He said he found a knife buried in the wall, which made him act first.
Victor’s brother Virgilio said he saw Jojo wandering around the area the night before the crime. He suspected Jojo was not in the right state of mind.
Authorities also confirmed that Jojo had a history of illegal drug use.
The suspect is now under police custody and will be charged with parricide.
