CCTV footage captured an alleged robbery inside a computer shop in the City of Talisay, Cebu, on May 22, prompting local police to conduct an investigation into the incident.
The video showed armed suspects wearing helmets entering the establishment and ordering customers who were using the computers to sit down and raise their hands.
Footage also showed the suspects frisking several individuals inside the computer shop while the alleged crime was taking place.
At one point, one of the suspects was seen pushing aside a CCTV camera, apparently in an attempt to prevent the device from recording their actions.
According to information gathered from the incident, the suspects allegedly identified themselves as police officers while carrying out the operation inside the establishment.
The video later circulated online, drawing public attention and prompting authorities to look into the matter.
In a statement issued on May 24, the City of Talisay Police Station said it had not yet received a formal complaint regarding the alleged robbery.
Despite the absence of an official complaint, police said they had already coordinated with the individual who uploaded the video as well as barangay officials to gather more information and conduct a deeper investigation.
Authorities said they are currently verifying the circumstances surrounding the incident and examining the footage as part of their inquiry.
The Talisay police also stressed that they would not tolerate anyone found to be involved in the incident, whether a civilian or a police officer.
Officials emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and that appropriate action will be taken once the facts surrounding the case have been established.
Police continue to encourage cooperation from witnesses and concerned individuals as investigators work to determine the identities of those involved in the alleged robbery.
