The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is calling on priests and the faithful to participate in a month-long observance of the “National Day of Prayer and Public Repentance,” which begins this week.
The initiative coincides with the Month of the Holy Rosary.
In a letter, CBCP president and Kalookan Bishop Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David said the observance serves as a communal prayer for “national confession and contrition” in light of ongoing calamities and corruption in the country.
The activities will include the recitation of a special prayer titled “A National Cry for Mercy and Renewal” starting tomorrow and on the succeeding Sundays until November 23, which marks the Feast of Christ the King.
The prayer emphasizes repentance for corruption, injustice, and political patronage while seeking forgiveness amid disasters and crises.
