The Marcos administration has set the records straight and clarified that there are currently no discussions regarding the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
This statement comes after the recent elections, which will introduce a new composition to the Senate.
During a press briefing at Malacañang, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said reports claiming the administration is confident about removing VP Sara from office are unfounded.
According to Castro, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s primary goal is to promote unity among the newly elected officials, regardless of their political affiliations.
“We deny and refute such claims. There has been no mention of any confidence or plan to oust or remove the Vice President from office,” Castro said.
She emphasized that the welfare of the people should take priority over personal interests.
Castro added that the President hopes the new officials will collaborate with the administration to advance programs that benefit the community.
The 20th Senate is scheduled to convene as an impeachment court in July this year.
The Vice President faces an impeachment complaint related to alleged misuse of funds in the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
