Four million Agoho trees have now been planted across Kidapawan City, with another million targeted under the Canopy 25 Project.
The project aims to plant five million Agoho trees across various areas to expand green spaces and protect natural resources.
Planting activities cover the city’s geographical area, including Mount Apo Protected Areas, riverbanks, open upland spaces, and other suitable locations.
The local government launched the Canopy 25 Project during the city’s 25th Charter Anniversary celebration in 2023.
Since then, the initiative has expanded tree-growing activities across areas identified as suitable for environmental conservation and restoration efforts.
Beyond protecting the environment, the growing Agoho trees have also created new attractions for residents and visitors.
Among these are the Center Islands in Kidapawan City, where Agoho trees now contribute to the area’s distinct landscape.
Local officials said the project will continue planting activities as the city works toward its five-million tree target.
The initiative also encourages communities and other stakeholders to participate in tree-growing and environmental conservation activities across the city.
As planting continues, officials aim to increase green spaces while promoting greater awareness of environmental protection among residents.
