Families in Garchitorena, Camarines Sur are still staying in evacuation centers as strong Amihan waves continue to crash along the shoreline, according to local authorities. The local government reported that the waters remain rough and unsafe for residents who rely on the sea for livelihood. No additional evacuations were conducted since several families already lost their homes when Super Typhoon Uwan passed earlier.
Data from the municipality showed that 66 internally displaced residents, or 11 families, are currently residing at the Barangay Hall of Barangay 3. Another family consisting of nine individuals from Barangay 2 remains at a separate evacuation center managed by the local government.
Mayor Nelson Bueza said that assistance for those who lost their homes is ongoing. He ensured that basic needs are being provided inside the temporary shelters. Bueza also urged fishermen and workers who operate near the shore to avoid heading out to sea while conditions remain dangerous due to the persistent Amihan winds.
The mayor reiterated that the local government is prepared to extend help to those affected and will continue to monitor the weather situation. Authorities have not announced a timeline for when evacuees may return, stressing that safety remains the priority while the seas stay turbulent.
Residents staying in the evacuation centers continue to rely on government support as they wait for conditions to improve. The situation highlights the lingering impact of Super Typhoon Uwan on coastal communities in Garchitorena.
