Surigao del Sur SB member, broadcaster stabbed to death in morning attack

A well-known broadcaster and sitting Sangguniang Bayan member was killed after being stabbed around 7 a.m. on December 6, 2025, in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Marihatag, Surigao del Sur. The victim was identified as Gerry Campos, a news reporter and active member of the municipal council.

Initial police findings showed that Campos usually took morning walks in the area. On the day of the incident, a man reportedly approached him and asked for money. Moments later, for reasons still unclear, the suspect allegedly attacked and stabbed him, causing his death on the spot. Investigators have not yet determined what triggered the assault.
