A businessman was shot and killed inside his salon along Daproza Avenue, General Santos City, at around 6:55 p.m. on January 15, 2025.
CCTV footage revealed the chilling moment when a masked gunman, wearing a green jacket and blue jeans, entered the establishment. The suspect, whose face was partially concealed by a black mask, pulled a firearm from his sling bag, causing customers and staff to flee in panic. The gunman fired multiple times, hitting the victim before fleeing the scene. Authorities believe another individual served as a lookout outside the salon.
The victim, identified as Renante Tampus, 34, a resident of Uhaw, Barangay Fatima, suffered two gunshot wounds: one in the chest, which proved fatal, and another in the leg. Investigators recovered 12 bullet casings from the crime scene.
PCapt. Cyrus Vince Arro, Acting Station Commander of Pendatun Police Station, confirmed that the suspect has been identified. Documents are being prepared for filing charges. Initial investigations suggest the motive may be personal grudge related to business dealings.
This incident marks the first reported shooting in General Santos City since the nationwide implementation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban on January 12, 2025.
