Army kills one, captures two in Samar clashes with CTG remnants

The Philippine Army’s 8th Infantry Division scored a victory over the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) after three encounters in Barangay Concepcion, Paranas, Samar, on September 13, 2025.

According to military reports, troops from the 46th Infantry “Peacemakers” Battalion, under the 801st Infantry “Bantay at Gabay” Brigade, were fired upon by CTG remnants belonging to the Special Operations Group (SOG), Yakal Platoon, Sub-Regional Committee (SRC) Browser, and the Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee (EVRPC). Soldiers outmaneuvered the attackers, forcing them to withdraw.

Pursuit operations led to two more encounters later that day. One CTG member, identified as Gerry Dela Cruz was killed. Two others, known only as alias Aye (Political Guide, SRC Browser) and alias Tintin (RSF, EVRPC), were captured.

Recovered from the clashes were three M16 rifles, two .45 caliber pistols, bandoliers, backpacks, subversive documents, and other war materiel.

Maj. Gen. Adonis Ariel Orio, Commander of the 8ID, praised the swift action of the 46IB, calling the operations proof of effective pursuit strategies against insurgents. Brigade Commander Col. Arlino  Sendaydiego and 46IB Commander Lt. Col. Marvin Inocencio likewise commended their troops, urging remaining CTG members to surrender.

The 8ID vowed to intensify operations to dismantle EVRPC remnants and secure Eastern Visayas communities from insurgent threats.
