Alleged plan of Co to testify in impeachment vs. PBBM has no effect on DOJ plunder case probe

The Department of Justice (DOJ) said its investigation into the plunder complaint against former Congressman Zaldy Co will proceed.

According to the DOJ, the probe will continue whether or not Co returns to the country, and regardless of whether he files a counter-affidavit.

Justice Department spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez said the agency follows a set timeline, giving it 60 days to resolve the complaint, extendable by up to 30 days for complex cases.

He added that there is no need to wait for the former lawmaker before resolving the case.

Meanwhile, the DOJ clarified that Co’s alleged plan to testify in the impeachment proceedings against President Bongbong Marcos will not affect the resolution of the plunder complaint against him.
