Malacañang said it respects the arrest warrant issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court against Vice President Sara Duterte in connection with her grave threats case.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the Palace respects any decision or order issued by the court.
The statement came after Duterte’s camp said the vice president has no intention of evading the law and will continue to pursue all available legal remedies despite questions surrounding the court’s jurisdiction.
Duterte’s camp previously confirmed that the Quezon City RTC had issued the arrest warrant against the vice president.
The court also set bail at P120,000 for the three counts of grave threats.
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla earlier said Duterte’s camp was expected to immediately post bail.
According to Remulla, Duterte’s lawyers confirmed that they had received the warrant and intended to post bail as soon as possible.
“Their lawyers confirmed that they received the warrant and they intend to post bail ASAP,” Remulla said.
The arrest warrant was issued by the Quezon City RTC in connection with the grave threats case against Duterte.
Duterte’s camp has questioned the jurisdiction of the court but said the vice president would continue to use the legal remedies available to her.
Malacañang’s response was limited to respecting the court’s decision or order, while Remulla provided the statement regarding the camp’s reported plan to post bail.
The developments followed the issuance of the arrest warrant by the Quezon City RTC against the vice president.
