11-year-old dies in Iloilo foam party electrocution

An 11-year-old child died after being electrocuted during a foam party held as part of the town fiesta celebration in Banate, Iloilo, on June 25, authorities said.

Another victim, identified as 25-year-old Kent, was injured in the incident.

According to the initial police investigation, the two victims entered a cordoned-off area beside the stage where a live electrical wire was located.

Investigators said Kent accidentally stepped on the live wire and suffered an electric shock.

After seeing Kent convulsing, the 11-year-old victim, identified as Prince, attempted to rescue him. Prince was also electrocuted during the rescue attempt.

Both victims were rushed to a hospital for treatment. However, Prince later died, while Kent sustained injuries.

Police said the incident occurred during the foam party organized as part of the municipality’s fiesta celebration.

The local government of Banate has committed to providing financial assistance to the family of the child who died in the incident.

Authorities have not released additional information regarding the condition of the injured victim.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the presence of the live wire inside the restricted area.
